Welcome to the Babies’ section.
Babies and attachment
One of the most important things for babies to experience in their first year is a joyful and positive relationship with parents and carers. This interaction with familiar people reassures them, calms them and helps to build the foundations for learning. When your baby is a few months old and is able to smile back at you and chuckle with glee, everyone in the family will be rewarded a thousand fold for their efforts.
For babies to feel secure, they need to know that a familiar face is nearby
As your baby grows older, a few simple routines and rhythms to the day can help him feel confident that you are not far away and this can help to keep him reassured and calm. For example a mid-morning bath followed by a nap and a story before bedtime can be a simple routine that both you and your baby grow to love.
