As we all know there is no set structure to an Australian family: there are nuclear families, stepfamilies, sole parent families and families which share responsibility for children on a regular basis. No matter how your family is structured, your role is, and will always be, the one of father.

In recent years, researchers have stressed the importance of fathers being involved with their children. Fathers have an invaluable and irreplaceable role in the development and lives of their children. Understanding this empowers and encourages all men to make a greater commitment and investment in their family.

Building strong relationships helps make children feel secure, confident and happy. Getting to know your children and being a positive role model will help guide, teach and support children through their lifetime.
